Introduction to Buying Crypto on Stash/What Coins we Offer

If you have an active Personal Invest Portfolio¹, you can now buy cryptocurrencies on Stash. To help protect you from price manipulation and potential fraud, we only offer large, established cryptocurrencies with real-world use cases. Stash offers the following coins (listed alphabetically):

1. Avalanche (AVAX)*
2. Bitcoin (BTC)
3. Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
4. Chainlink (LINK)
5. Ethereum (ETH)
6. Ethereum Classic (ETC)*
7. Solana (SOL)*
8. Uniswap (UNI)*

*Only available to customers who live outside of New York state. This is not a recommendation to buy or sell a particular digital asset. 

Stash allows trading of cryptocurrencies 24/7/365 (with the exception of the daily maintenance window—more about that here). Unlike our stock and ETF trading windows of four times a day, you can trade crypto at any time*. If you use your Stash Banking account to buy crypto, there is a $10,000 daily limit on purchases. If you use your external bank account, there is a $1,000 daily limit on purchases. To note, daily limits may be subject to change at the discretion of Stash. 

Crypto purchases must be made from your Stash banking account or external bank account. The Cash balance of your brokerage account cannot be used to purchase coins at this time.  Please note, your coins will be kept in an account separate from your other investments in your Personal Invest Portfolio1. If you currently have a Personal Invest Portfolio, you will automatically be eligible for the crypto account. 

Cryptocurrency is a highly volatile investment. It’s important to understand the risks associated with trading crypto prior to making any purchases. 

*Stash or Apex Crypto may halt or limit trading in Crypto in order to perform regularly scheduled maintenance, or otherwise in Stash’s or Apex Crypto’s sole discretion.

How to Buy Crypto on the Stash App

Follow these steps to buy cryptocurrencies in the Stash app:

1. Login to the Stash app. 
2. Tap Invest on the bottom of the screen. 
3. Tap Personal portfolio1.
4. Tap Search companies & ETFs.
5. Tap Crypto.

         

6. Browse the coins we offer and locate the one you want to purchase.

      

7. Tap Buy.

1. If you’re already enrolled with a crypto account, proceed to the next step.
2. If you’re not already enrolled with a crypto account, follow these steps:
   1. Tap Get Started.
   2. Accept our Agreements.
   3. Tap Done.

8. Enter the dollar amount you want to purchase and tap Continue.

Notes: 

• There is a daily limit of $1,000 for crypto purchases when using funds from your external bank, and a daily limit of $10,000 for crypto purchases when using funds from your Stash banking account. Please note, daily limits may be subject to change at Stash’s discretion. 
• Crypto purchases have a minimum limit of $1.25. There is an additional trading fee related to purchasing and selling crypto that is not part of our Stash subscription fee. For more information on fees, go to this section.

9. Tap Buy to purchase your coins. Your coins will be available in your crypto account shortly. 

 

How to Buy Crypto on the Stash Website

Follow these steps to buy cryptocurrencies on the Stash website: 

1. Login to the Stash website. 
2. Click Invest at the top of the screen. 
3. Click the Personal Portfolio tile. 
4. Click Continue.
5. Click Crypto.

6. Browse the coins we offer and locate the one you want to purchase.

7. Enter the amount you’d like to purchase, then click the blue Buy button. 

• If you’re already enrolled with a crypto account, proceed to the next step.
• If you’re not already enrolled with a crypto account, follow these steps:
  1. Click Continue.
  2. Accept our Terms & Conditions.
  3. Click Continue.

8. Select Personal Portfolio as the portfolio you’d like to buy your coins for. 

9. Select a funding source for your purchase and click Continue.

10. Click Continue to purchase your coins. Your coins will be available in your crypto account instantly. 

 

Crypto and Fees

Crypto trading fees vary based on your subscription plan. Fees are deducted from the total amount of a transaction. 

• Growth: 1% per transaction
• Plus: 0.8% per transaction

The  Transaction Fee will be deducted from the total dollar amount of each crypto  transaction. This transaction fee covers execution, custodial, and account maintenance costs in connection with your crypto account and is not part of our Stash Subscription fee.
