How do I open a Smart Portfolio?

How do I make an investment in my Smart Portfolio?
Any funds you transfer into your Smart Portfolio will be invested for you by our expert investment team. You can make both one-time and recurring deposits into your Smart Portfolio, similar to how you fund your other Stash accounts.
Follow these steps to make a one-time deposit to your Smart Portfolio:
- Use this link to initiate a transfer to your Smart Portfolio.
- Enter the dollar amount you would like to invest
- Select your desired source of funds as the “From” account.
- Select your Smart Portfolio as the “To” account.
- Verify the transfer details and click the Transfer button at the bottom of your screen to initiate the transfer and investment.
Once your money successfully transfers and arrives in your account, your trades will be executed in the next available trading window. This typically takes 1-2 business days.
How do I set up or manage Auto-Stash on my Smart Portfolio?

How do I withdraw funds from my Smart Portfolio?
Follow these steps to withdraw funds from your Smart Portfolio
- Use this link to initiate a transfer.
- Enter the dollar amount you would like to sell and transfer out of your Smart Portfolio.
- Select your Smart Portfolio as the “From” account.
- Select your desired destination of the funds as the “To” account.
Verify the transfer details and click the Transfer button at the bottom of your screen to initiate the sale and transfer of your funds.
Please note: Investment sales are required to satisfy your withdrawal request and may take up to one business day to complete and settle. It may take up to three additional business days for the funds to appear in your bank account.
New deposits made in your account while your withdrawal request is processing may cause both your withdrawal request and your deposit(s) to take longer to process. The actual transfer amount might vary slightly depending on market fluctuations. If the withdrawal request is rejected, we will hold the withdrawn amount of cash in the Stash Account for 5 business days. You may retry the withdrawal request within this time period. If the withdrawal is unsuccessful, funds will be reinvested into the Stash account.
How do I add to or change the investments in my Smart Portfolio?
You cannot edit your Smart Portfolio holdings. This is because it’s built as a fully managed, hands-off investment approach. Stash’s experts take care of managing and rebalancing your portfolio to keep it diversified and aligned with your financial situation and risk level.
If your financial situation has changed since you last updated these settings, you can update them in the app or online with this link. Your answers may affect how your Smart Portfolio is allocated. Be sure to respond truthfully so we can match you with the best fit.
How do I close my Smart Portfolio?
If you wish to stop using your Smart Portfolio, you can transfer the funds out of your portfolio to reduce your balance to zero. That’s it! You can fund it again at any time.
