Want to make your money work harder for you? The Stash Stock-Back® Debit Mastercard® allows you to invest while you spend. Read on to find out the details of this benefit, offered exclusively by Stash.
How does Stock-Back® work?
To earn Stock-Back® Rewards, you must have an open Personal Brokerage portfolio, an open Stash banking account, and an active Stock-Back® Card. Then, all you need to do to earn rewards is make purchases with your Stock-Back® Card. We’ll give you Stock-Back® Rewards on every eligible purchase.
What stocks will I earn with Stock-Back®?
With every purchase you make with the Stash Stock-Back® Debit Mastercard you can earn Stock-Back® Rewards. When you use your Stock-Back® Card at a merchant that is on our platform, we’ll reward you with stock in that company. If the merchant does not have stock on Stash, we’ll reward you with a stock or ETF of your choice.
How do I change my Stock-Back® Reward?
You can change your Stock-Back® Reward at any time directly in the Stash app.
Follow these steps to update your Stock-Back® Reward:
- Login to the Stash app.
- Tap My Stash at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Banking.
- Tap “Your Stock Back Card Benefits”
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Change your custom stock reward.
- Select your custom stock reward, then tap the Choose button at the bottom of the screen.
How much stock will I earn with Stock-Back®?
- Stash Starter customers will earn 0.125% back, with up to 2% back on select streaming services and up to 3% back on utility payments.
- Stash+ customers will earn up to 1% back, with up to 3% back on select streaming services and up to 5% back on utility payments.
- Once you have earned the maximum aggregate cash value in any month, you’ll earn 0.125% Stock-Back rewards on all other purchases.

What purchases qualify for Stock-Back® Rewards?
For the most part, your regular purchases—including gas, utilities, groceries, and dining—will qualify for Stock-Back® Rewards. Non-qualifying purchases include ATM withdrawals, gift or prepaid cards, and money orders.

How will I know if I’ve earned Stock-Back®?
We’ll send you a push notification to let you know when you earn Stock-Back® Rewards. You’ll get the notification shortly after your purchase—usually immediately, but it can sometimes take up to a few hours.
You can also check your Stock-Back® rewards in your Stash account:
- Login to your Stash account.
- Tap Earn Rewards at the top of your screen.
- Tap Stock-Back® Rewards. Here you can view your total rewards and your stocks earned.
When will I see my Stock-Back® Reward in my portfolio?
It can take up to 10 business days for the Stock-Back® Reward to be added to your Personal Brokerage portfolio after you earn it. Business days are Monday-Friday, excluding weekends and market holidays.
Don’t see your reward 10 business days after earning it? Please give us a call at 800-205-5164 from 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. EST Monday-Friday, or email us at support@stash.com.
Can I opt out of Stock-Back® Rewards?
You can opt out of Stock-Back® Rewards, but you’ll need to contact us. Please send an email to stockbackoptout@stash.com and you’ll be removed from the program within three business days.
